Hi I'm making a free mass download site for software and i need to know how ot make a shopping basket like feature so they can add programs to a list to download?

Get MySQL & PHP for the worldwideweb quickstart edition by larry ullman. Its a really good beginners book (get his introduction to php book too) that you can get cheap used from amazon. You will need a server side language and a database to be able to do that.

as the 2nd person advised oscommerce, this lets you do everything from stock control, registering users, to sending out newsletters..you name it and it can do it.

you can also use paypals built in function to do that and process the payment - very easy to set up
