The generators are steam driven and the water is used by the power plant to condense the steam back into water so it can be reused. Water for the boilers has to be absolutely pure so the sea or river water can't be used. It is just used as a coolant..

They use the water supply as a coolant or maybe because the power station you are referring to is a hydro electric power station which in that case, uses the water supply or pressure to turn the blades in the turbine, therefore generating electricity.

simple, the water collected from the water bodies are collected and heated up to be steam, in which the steam is used to drive the electrical turbines.

its because most of their fuels are in bulk shipment, sea is the best passageway. power plant needs huge amount of water, so salt water is desalinized for consumption.

because water is one of the subtances to produce electricity.First its need to demineralised then it will go main feed water line going to economizer, boiler steam drum and furnace water wall going to pressurise by combustion of light fuel oil or coal then will go to primary,secondary,final superheater then after that will go to main steam pipe going to turbine and will produce electricity

they are neer rivers and lakes for two reasons.1)because there is not many peaple there too upset.2)so they have a big flowing trash bin called a river.
