If you're talking about either England or the U.S., things are much better today, despite what a lot of liberals, leftists & Democrats may say. There are so many opportunities & programs for the poor that the conditons in Western societies are much better than those of mid-19th Century England. And the advancements in medicine & science have benefitted ALL classes of people, including the poor. That's not to say there are no problems - but they are nowhere near as bad as they were 150 years ago.

I think its more like the movie Titanic,because of the way upper class people treat middle and lower class people.We all breath the same air ,put our pants on the same way,but its not good enough.

I think we are somewhat better off, although there still seems to be an inbuilt hostility toward the poor and disabled.
