I have been given a set of binoculars, I know they are from the 2nd world war but the only thing i can not find is what NIL stands for. Can anyone help please.

Probably an abbreviation for the manufacturer's name. N Industries L or something similar?

i have a feeling they may be the standard issue german officers binox if soyou probably have a real treasure!
