Glaciologically we are in one now.
Global warming: Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans in recent decades and the projected continuation of rising temperatures.

"Glaciologically, ice age is often used to mean a period of ice sheets in the northern and southern hemispheres; by this definition we are still in an ice age (because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist). More colloquially, when speaking of the last few million years, ice age is used to refer to colder periods with extensive ice sheets over the North American and Eurasian continents: in this sense, the last ice age ended about 10,000 years ago. Top scientists have been debating this for the past 10 years now.
"Global warming" is a misleading term.
Actually what is happening to the world is drastic changes of climate.
There is also another misconception. Weather and climate. Weather is the temperature of a specific region for a short amount of time. Climate is the general weather of a region or even country for a long amount of time. weather changes are not the alarming problem, it is the climate changes.
With the temperature of the world rising more drastically recently than in the 60s and 70s, ice caps are melting faster than ever. Soon coastal cities will be flooded and uninhabitable.
The ice age is actually overdue. and some scientists are predicting that within 50-100 years we will start to see the even more drastic affects of the ice age coming, and the affects of "global warming"
don't forget the factors of el neno and al nina. right now we are experiencing al nina, which means our winter has been generally warmer than previously recorded. next winter will be el neno, so it will be freezing and snowing like crazy.

The severe weather is localised and short lived - a few days, maybe weeks. Global warming is worldwide and has been ongoing now for 18,000 years - it's what brought about the end of the last ice age.

Where I live (high in the hills) we should have had loads of snow and frosts but all we've had is 2 days of snow and the occasional frost. So far this month temperatures have been about 6 degrees above the February average.

I'd love for it to snow here so please send some of your excess this way.

are you kidding me by asking that question? Global warming won't let that happen. it is when all the polution is breaking the ozone layer that protects us from uv rays from the sun, so thats why earth is becoming hotter which there won't be an ice age

To add to the first response, as long as we have glaciers we are in an ice age.
