Give her $5 if she does her chores but open a bank account with her and have her put $3 in it each week. She will learn the value of savings and have fun watching her money grow. It may not seem like much money but by the time she is 25 she'll be happy you guided her.

I think that is a great idea. Children today don't have responsibilities when it comes to taking care of themselves and their surroundings. I personally required my children, now 12 and 15, cleaned their rooms, trash collection, and toy pick up without allowance. It taught how to take care of their things and their own personal space. Kids today are involved in so many activities because their parents want to give them things to do instead of getting into trouble and the general care of the kids space is left up to Mom. Teach them well, teach them now, because the Moms will not always be here to do it for them.

Personally, I dont see the point of an allowance at that age. I do chores everyday, and I have never seen an allowance, so either this girl is responsible or you are trying to teach her responsibility, i dont know, but $2 is the right amount. If you do, teach her how to be smart with it, how to save it, and say she could spend only a certain amount of it each week...etc.. Good luck!

I say it's great, and she needs to realize that if she doesn't do her chores, or doesn't do them appropriately there is a deduction in the amount. You are really teaching her a great lesson about life. Good luck and God Bless.

$5 a week.
Teach her how to save so allow her to spend $2 weekly and the rest to be saved
