I personally prefer the book. You get alot more out of it than a movie, however I also watch the movies and enjoyed them. The book gives you the sense of being there and you can pause and reflect on just what you have read.I feel the same way I think about every book I have ever seen in a movie form, somehow they just lose a little of that magic, that you get by reading. The suspense lingers and the excitement last alot longer and it builds such desire to see what is next. With a movie before those thoughts really get thought the movie is over and time to go home.

I saw the first book for sale at a really cheap price and I thought, "well everybody's talking about this book and even though it's a children's book, the price is good, and I like children's books once in awhile anyway", so I bought it. It had me hooked from the very start. I fell in love with the character of Harry and enjoyed his first year at Hogwarts. I loved it so much that I had to get the ones that had already come out and now I'm one of those fans that's waiting on tenderhooks for the last of the series to finally come out in print. The movies are okay but the books exceed the movies in excellence ten thousand times over. I much prefer reading a book to seeing a movie, especially the Harry Potter ones.

I LOVE harry potter! I prefer reading the books. The movies are great too but they cant include all the scenes and the details. J.K Rowling's writing itself is so descriptive that you can really picture whats going on. Either way i just LOVE harry potter..cant wait for the 7th book to be out!!!

ive read all the potter books (except the 7th) no less than ten times each, which means that i know them really well. the movies are all right, but compared to the books, theyre worthless. most of the actors and actresses in the movies are really inexperienced, so they arent very good, take daniel radcliffe for instance. sure, he and tom felton and robert pattinson are cute and all, but that does not make them any better at acting. also, while i was watching the movies, i had to restrain myself from throwing a fit and yelling, 'that didnt happen in the book! or ' where the hell did that come from?' because they add and subtract lots of things from the books, which totally sucks. sometimes, i also notice that harry potters eyes in the movie are blue, but it was heavily emphasized in the book that he had green eyes. most of the roles that they cast dont even look like how i pictured them while reading, take umbridge and luna for examples.

The books are definitely better. I'm a huge fan, I almost grew up with Harry Potter. The books are more connectable and emotionally mature. I think they bring out the best in its readers. And its written in a hilarious undertone and mysterious intrigue. The movies are alright, but they meander away from the plotline, and are basically just action thrills. The characterizations are different, expecially Hermione's, whose book counterpart is a delicately written character. The directors haven't really induced the movies with soul, its just money generator.

I prefer the books since they're 100% in comparison to the films, but then you can't blame the filmakers, there's simply too much. But just because I like the books better, doesn't mean that I don't like the films at all. The books and films are like apples and oranges, totally different, yet still so good.
Though those guys did fairly well in being faithful to the books...
