Wrap the hose in duct tape and go to your best L&G Center and get a product called Tanglefoot. It's one of the stickiest substances in the world--and that's why you use duct tape. Put sone tanglefoot on the duct tape and once the squirrels touch it they will never mess with it again. Let it go for a few months to make sure you have taught all the squirrels not to mess with your hoses. Then you can carefully take off the tape (and Tanglefoot) and be back to just your hose. It doesn't hurt the squirrel--just aggravates the daylights out of them. It will you too if you get it on yourself so be careful.

We have crazy squirrels here too...they actually ate thru the weatherstripping on my garage door so they could eat thru the garbage cans! I was advised to put some hot sauce (Tabasco) on it and they would leave it alone. I just put it there yesterday so I have yet to see if it works!
Good Luck!
