i heard that all babies crawl differently and at different stages. however my moms friend who is a child psychology said that my son needs to be evaluated by a pediatrician (apt. end of next week) because he drags one leg when he crawls and he is crawling on his belly. i was just wondering if anyone elses baby crawled like that and whether or not the baby was ok. thanks in advance for your help!

Hey! I thought my daughter was the only one... My first daughter (now 4 years 10 months) didn't actually crawl... she looked like a hurt soldier dragging one leg... from 9 to 11 months that was her way to move by herself... at 11 she started to walk with help and at 14 months she was walking by herself...

She is so intelligent, very smart and social kid and a few days ago she took a test to enter a bigger school and the result at McCarthy's scale was she is 6.6 years as cognitive age...

So, I would say there is nothing to worry about, every baby is different, though it's good that you ask the doctor to check everything is in order.

My son started crawling by using only his right side. He wold pop his body up and move it forward listing the whole time. I am sure your baby is fine and quite cute trying to crawl with a limp, though I always figure that a second opinion from a medical professional is a good idea.

My nephew crawled like that my sister was so worried he ever would bring a foot up and still drag the other leg eventually he decided the leg was useful and used it no problem walking or anything now.
I would tell you to talk to you dr. next time you see him just to be sure.

Good Luck!

my daughter does something like that...but she lifts up on her arms and has one leg ****** up on the side that she "walks" with and drags the other...i'm not worried at all cause she does also walk...and she does that fine...however we are far from our families and therefore send videos...and our families have said if they hadn't seen her walking first (she did this about 2 weeks before crawling) they would have thought something was wrong with her leg...I wouldn't worry about it but mention it to dr. next appointment just to make sure.

i have two baby cousins and they crawl so differently. right now, one of them is a year, and she did drag one of legs, and she was just fine. then i have another who is only 7-8 months and he like scoops himself and uses the floor to crawl. yes, i think it is fine and all babies are different crawlers. good luck =]

NO, that is not normal. Your baby should be seen ASAP becasue it could have a dislocated hip.
