Oh man you MUST BE CARE FULL WITH THIS ANSWER!!!!!! If not you can get hurt!!!! Your neutral starter cut out switch is stuck!!! Please wait at least a 1/2 hour to give your heater "McGuiver" thing to work. If that fails WITH THE E BRAKE ENGAGED AND FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY BE SURE THE TRUCK IS IN NEUTRAL!!!!! Turn the key to the on position. Open the hood. O the fender or on the the starter there is a little round thing with 2 wires attached. That is the solenoid. Cross the two terminals with a screw driver. this will engage the starter. If you have some one there to help you have them keep there foot on the brake. If the truck is in gear you can get run over USE CAUTION PLEASE!!!

One thing I used to do long ago was to place a blanket over the engine and under the blanket I placed a portable light with a 100W bulb and closed the hood. Just be sure that the lamp is not touching or very close to the blanket.
When I tried to start the engine in the morning, it fired right up and even the heater started to put out heat a lot sooner than usual. This also warmed up the battery so I had plenty of juice to start the car.

I had this same problem with my older chevy pickup. I had to put a trebble light under the hood and kept it plugged into an extention cord all night long on top of the motor. After I did this on cold nights/mornings when I went to start it up it fired up when I didnt do this I would have to wait till sunlight to start it. My mechanic told me about this trick. It has something to do with warming up the engine and the oil in the lines keeps everything from freezing up. If your fluids are freezing up your not going to start the truck. I have an ancient 4speed chevy.

OK first and foremost How is your battery? is it up to par? secondly, Have you checked at the starter solenoid? that's the doohickey on the fender well where the positive of the battery wire runs to. I don't normally suggest this. Put your truck in neutral, parking brake on. Take a pair of pliers and cross over from big terminal to big terminal on the Solenoid. If you get the engine trying to turn over you will have found your mystery issue.
Now this technique may spark like crazy and pliers will get hot pretty quick but this is to just test it to see if your engine turns over. If it still doesn't and your battery and solenoid seems to be god the next issue is starter. that you can take off and have your local auto parts store test. Last test is to grab one of your tight motor pulleys and see if you can manually turn the engine by hand to assure it is not locked up..

If you can't start your F-150 in the cold the first step is to have the block heater and cord tested then check the battery if it does have enough juice to turn the starter over.

Three things to suggest: one, get a block heater installed in the engine; two, use 5W - 30 oil or 0W-30 synthetic oil in the engine; have your battery tested, it may not be putting out enough cold cranking amps (CCA). Pedals will loosen up once the engine is running and warms the vehicle.

i doubt its the cold...youd hear something from the starter trying to turn. If you hear a clicking the battery may have enough juice to do lights and all but not to turn the starter, need a jump.

I'm sorry, a friend of mine use to use a blow torch to heat up something under neath the hood and his would start right up. but, I don't know what he was heating. Call the automotive parts store and ask them.
