Is there any software using which we can listen to other people using the phone in nearby area??
actually there was one which i found long back.. but lost it.. does anyone know of anything like that??

No, the radio channel is encrypted so can't be intercepted. The secret key is held deep within the SIM card and can't be read - even by the phone.
