I used to be able to sit down and write short fiction and enjoy it. Now, I'm 27 and unable to do that. I don't know why, but it's like pulling teeth. I love writing and I think that it is certainly a strong point of mine, but for some reason this last year has been tough. I can't seem to make any headway. Any suggestions.

I think you should literally write whatever comes into your head, even if it seems completely stupid. The practise can help your writing skills and soon something good will come and you won't have missed it. Plus, I know you said short fiction, but why don't you try writing something you haven't previously and get a little variety.

I always think this is like insomnia-the harder you try the worse it becomes.
I'm not trying to be funny here but try having a couple of drinks before you next sit down and write.I've found that can relax you and in doing so sometimes ideas flow a little more freely..You may have to go over and correct what you've written the next day but that isn't a problem if the ideas have come.I think it makes you write in a way just that little less inhibited as it does verbally/ socially.

Could be you've got a lot on your mind. That happens to me when I'm worried about something. Just try some free writing and see if that helps. Music helps too.
