At this point, it wouldn't surprise me to see Matt Millen coax Ryan Leaf out of retirement.

i think he would be insane to draft Johnson after all the WRs they have drafted high in the past, and look at the success they have had offensively! Then again, who knows, we have seen them do it time and time again. They already have a great WR in Roy Williams, and a couple others who have potential. They drafted Ernie Sims in the first round last year, and he was a finalist for rookie of the year.
The biggest issues are at QB, offensive line, and on the defensive side of the ball, so I would be very surprised if they didn't address one of these areas with the first pick. If they want to continue to improve they will do so. As a matter of fact, WR has to be the position that is in the best shape for the Lions. The best move may be to trade someone this pick who wants to move up and lock Calvin Johnson or Brady Quinn. Then they could still get a quality first rounder and pick up another pick or 2 in later rounds.

not at all, look at the last four years... I would feel really sorry for any wideout that gets picked by the Lions in the first round. That's Millen's personal way of making sure their career killed before ir even gets started.

Unexpected yes, out of the question, no. Most experts think the Lions are leaning towards picking OT Joe Thomas of Wisconsin. Although Thomas is not considered to be the next Orlando Pace, he is consider the best prospect on the offensive line and lets face it, the Lions need all they can get there. If they decide to skip Thomas, look for them to possibly pick Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson or either Johnson or fellow WR Ted Ginn of Ohio State.

Nothing is unexpected out of Detroit. Matt Millen is an idiot. He'd be dumb enough to run out of time and lose the whole pick all together.

Yes. First, he has struck out with a couple of first round picks spent on WRs and doing so again would lead to popular demands to drive him out of town. Second, they have two good WRs already. There isn't a need for another. What they need is Joe Thomas, a great tackle out of Wisconsin. Their OL is the problem with the offense--not skill position players.

I think Jamaal Anderson the DE from Arkansas will be the lions first round pick. they need help on their line. if not him than Joe Thomas, but I would expect them to continue addressing their defensive shortcomings in the draft.

I think he has finally learned his lesson. If he did draft a WR this year it would result in a completely empty Ford Field come next fall. Lions fans have had it with him!

I think at this point the guy would be sick of wideouts. My guess is he goes for Brady Quiin.

Lets hope he is not as much of an idiot as we all think he is. If he is smart he will take Brady Quinn, if he is an idiot he will take Calvin Johnson.
