Well, you can't get addicted to pot.

You need to assert yourself as the parent and refuse to let him out of the house except for school and other acceptable activities where you know who is there and who is supervising the activity. I really think the people advocating rehab are out of their minds. The kid is behaving like any teenager.

Or you could always go with the classic -- sit him down with a carton of cigs and make him smoke for several hours straight. He won't be interested in puffing again.

How serious is the addiction? You need to get him away from his sources. Send him to live with a grandparent or some other relative. If that doesnt work, look into a drug abuse rehab center for teens. There are tons of them throughout the US that he could stay at, lose the addiction and then come back.

Get him in rehab. Don't let him go out with his friends, lock him in his room! You are still the parent and while he lives under your roof he has to listen to you. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT let someone especially your son walk all over you. Stop giving him money to get the stuff with, if he has a job, tell him that you want to start recieving money for rent, because if he's not going to act like a son, and wants to act like an individual make him pay for it. Plus, take away everything he loves, video games, cell phone, internet. Get him away from all the sources. Send him to a ranch someplace out in texas to work, just get him out of the stuff. He's only 16 he has 2 years to go before he's an "adult" so right now, he has to listen to YOU!

Tell him if he doesnt stop u will take away some of his privlages or tell him that pot is illegal and that he shouldnt be doing it at all, most of all he is hurting his health. tell him all that could happen that's bad.
if this doesnt work just tell him that u r going to talk to a counselor at his school about his problem
either that or call the police on him and ask them if they could tell him the consequences of what he is doing this reason will tech him a good lesson and he probably will never do it again after confronting the law and talking to them

What's your point?

ok, well you asked so I'll try and him.
To be honest, I've been addicted to much worse things. Does he know crack is HEAPS better than weed? F*ck that sh*t!
I don't know why you're complaining, weed leads to stronger ****, so by the time he's on herion you'll be saving pennies at xmas by just buying his spoons!

Plus smoking weed will make your angst-filled teenage son much more placid and won't probably find the urge to butt sex your dog. Hide the peanut butter though.

And buy some E and tell him to get his freak on! Half that **** has some Viagra in there too, so he can keep his bone on all week long!

Later bijazs. The invoice is the Shizmail.

Well...obviously he needs help. The moment you saw that he was doing these things, you shoulda talked to him about it and got him into a rehab center. Since you did not do that, he is not gonna take you seriously when you try to help him now. Get someone else that he looks up to (that does not do drugs and smoke) to talk to him and get him rehab help. GET HIM HELP NOW because we do not need anymore bums on drugs in this world. We already have too many!

Both substances are illegal for a 16 year old. Cut him off financially. Find out where he's getting the pot and the cigs. Then call the police if you have to. He's a teenager, he's going to do what he wants. Cut off his supplier if you have to. If that takes calling the police, then, so be it.

It is just a phase he is going through. I did the same thing at 16 I am just fine. Just tell him the risks of Cigarettes and how harmful it is to smoke nicotine is more addicting than heroin so as far as the weed he is okay. It dont last forever trust me. I have had the same problem growing up as well. Weed is not that great he will get sick of it like i did.

remove him from the situations and people that encourage that behavior.

rehab.

be a model for him by NOT smoking or drinking or doing any substances.

whatever you need to do, you have to do it. It's completely your responsibility to bring your kid up to know that those things are bad for him. After he leaves your care and becomes an adult, then it's his choice. Right now, you're responsible for all that your child is.

I agree with KP go to A&E's website and look up the show Intervention. I'm sure being on tv and having the family surround him to get help at rehab will make him quit! good luck!
