I took Melatonin for awhile...it was WONDERFUL. I took 3mg at bedtime.

Edit:
Sounds like you need a prescription. Benadryl, Melatonin and sleep aids such as Tylenol PM are the only thing over-the-counter. If you are "immuned" to them, we won't have a miracle cure for you. How is your diet? Do you exercise? These things affect sleep patterns.

You are asking for sensible answers, but you are saying all sensible answers don't work . It sounds like only a doctor can help. Maybe even seeing a therapist. Limit your caffiene to a small amount in the morning or cut it out completely.

Talk to your doctor. My daughter couldn't sleep and it was because she wasn't getting enough daylight. This also made her depressed. You need to get up early everyday working or not, you need to be outside every day for at least 30 minutes and go to bed at the same time every night. If you have a dog take it for a short walk 1-2 times a day. Doing this everyday will get your body into a routine after 2 weeks you should get your body settled into getting up early and going to bed at te same time and sleeping through the night.

Get an herbal supplement called melatonin. You can get it anywhere. It's a hormone that controls your circadian rythm and signals to your body "go to sleep... it's time to sleep...stay asleep.....zzzz" I'm on rozerem but the melatonin worked great until my house got broken into and my insurance started covering rozerem.
