in the mountains for me.
i suppose everyone has their own preferred place of peace and escape. i'd say, though, that the best is somewhere that is quiet and serene, where there are no machines, no noise pollution, and you can once again be one with nature.
in retrospect, man hasn't been in cities, or even civilizations for very long and it is in him to live from the land. this is why the native americans chose to keep their traditional ways of living. if they wanted to, they could have far surpassed other civilizations across the world. to show this point, the american indians had huge civilizations of hundreds of thousands of people, with trade networks across the continent, with buildings that were topped until new york city's largest skyscrapers, etc. meanwhile, the europeans were just beginning to draw on cave walls.
after all, man is an animal first and any quest for true happiness must take this into account.

When you find it will you please let me know? I think this is another of the words that have lots of meaning and political feeling behind it. I think that this is a word that a lot of propaganda is based on. One use to could be crazy and wild, and one use to say hey man that is just insane and it did not have the same feeling that it does now. I don't know, if you find a place to escape this insanity will you please let me know? I can say this that much of what is being termed as a mental illness brain disease insanity is not actually based on any medical scientific evidence it is being based on perceptions and feelings about what it is and how it should so call be treated, that is another one of those words though isn't it? Thanks for asking.

Please don’t confuse escaping insanity with escaping reality - religion weakens people in my mind. I would say that people everywhere are going nuts and my only escape is with my partner. Together we can digest all the crazy stuff going on in the world and nothing feels better than talking with him and having a laugh at it all. A good documentary always focuses my mind, things like Richard Dawkins – The root of all evil and American Blackout, it shows you there are bigger problems than anything that’s personal to your life and that there are other people out there who have an ounce of common sense and it makes me feel a lot better. Take solace in a select few people and try not to give credence to the idiots you don’t agree with.

Head to the shore, feel the sand and the sea wind, let the sound and motion of the water calm you.

There is no way. If you go to a deserted Island you'll soon be suffering from isolation sickness, so you're right back to square one.

But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

Many people retreat into their own minds, but in your case, this may not help.
good luck and let me know when you find such a place.
