I don't think Papelbon will pitch the whole year in the rotation. Hopefully Lester makes a complete recovery, and I think he will be the fifth starter, especially considering how bad Boston's current closer situation is. Schilling has a great track record, and Dice-K has been getting a lot of hype, but I think if Boston wants to beat the Yankees then they need Beckett to pitch like an ace. He showed flashes at times and he is capable of being brilliant if he keeps his head on his shoulders and pitches to his potential. He has shown he can be an ace in the postseason with the Marlins, now he needs to do it for a whole year.

carry on.. For starters water and rosen are both legal and maximum pitchers use both. second Clay Bucholez has pitched like this in the previous.. Do you no longer keep in suggestions 2011?!? the guy grow to be on fireplace and pitched a useless ringer for this then.. Lester is pitching as he continually has. So is Doubront. very last 3 hundred and sixty 5 days the sox rotation wasn't that tremendous and with the absense of Lacky.. The bull pen really grew to grow to be over worked. From there Bobby V grow to be a terrible manager who did no longer some thing yet tick off his personal club. NYY wont make the submit season their pitching rotation sucks. not in any respect suggestions the reality that A-roid, jeter, tex and granderson are all out. John Farrell is now mamager who grow to be the pitching cosch at the same time as the sox pitching grow to be at its maximum ideal. the hot pitching coach has obviously discovered a fashion to furnish his paintings force self assurance.. Blame dishonest all you want besides the undeniable fact that the reality is the sox were lower than envisioned. We also do not have beckett who at the same time as he grow to be tremendous grow to be gving up a ton of domicile runs. not in any respect suggestions the reality that there have been dissimilar gamers commenting that that they had no grievance even the blue jays manager suggested it does no longer have mattered.

Their four big guns each have a shot to be the best. Ironically, they each have a little bit of uncertainty coming into the season.
Will Matsuzaka have a smooth transition to the Major Leagues? Will Beckett bounce back from his rough debut in the AL? Will Papelbon reach his potential with the cloud of "should he be closer?" hanging over his head? Will Schilling continue to be as effective as he gets older?
My opinion? I think the safest best is Schilling due to his track record, but I have a feeling Dice-K will be their best pitcher when it's all said and done.

I think that Jonathan Papelbon judging from last season will be a great one. I can't wait to see him in the rotation as a SP this year. I think Curt Schilling has had the better career but it's coming to a close and Papelbon is who the torch will be passed to, unless they land some big free agent in the next couple of seasons

I think that Josh Beckett is going to have a very good season.
In 2006, he gave up a lot of home runs and had a very high ERA and still gave them 16 wins.
Now that this adjustment year is behind him, I think he improves greatly if the Boston bats give him some runs to work with.
There is a huge difference between pitching for the low key Miami market and going to the media savvy, media frenzied Boston market.

Beyond a doubt, Josh Beckett will be phenominal this year! It was definitely a change from NL to AL and he has obviously experienced that already. I have faith in my guy!!
I don't know about Dice K, though. Alot of hoopla is going on with him and I'm not sure he will live up to the expectations. Kinda getting sick of hearing about it all really!!
GO RED SOX!!

Schilling 16 wins
Matsuzaka 14 wins
Papelbon 16 wins
Beckett 14 wins
Wakefield 13 wins
Lester/Snyder/Tavares 17 wins combined
All others 7 wins. [Wins AL East]
A team effort with Schilling and Papelbon as co-stars.

Without a doubt, Curt Shilling. Matsuzaka doesn't have the experience as of yet and Beckett is too wild.

I still think schilling will be the best pitcher, even with this new japanese guy coming in. i think Matsuzaka will struggle to start. but schilling will be a constant as long as he is healthy.
