When my lover moved in with me, I was upset that he never put the toilet seat down, so I confronted him and he said "you don't leave it up for me!" And I was thinking, "well I'm a woman you should put the seat down!" But he pulled the feminism card and I am a feminist or trying to be and since it's just me and him and I never put the seat up for him. We agreed. Who ever uses it last leaves the toilet as it was used, but flushed hopefully! Equal rights. I know, it's just a small thing, but what do you prefer? I'm curious.

If you have children or whatever, do you go with the majority genders preference?

I'm not making a big deal about it. I decided that I wasn't going to make a deal about it. When he uses it. He leaves it up unless he's doing number 2. When I use it, I leave it down. I said we agreed! This was over a year ago. Just wondering what you do!

Okay... there are two people in the house, the woman needs the seat down, the guy needs the seat up (unless the woman doesn't mind sitting in pee). One needs it down, one needs it up, why should one get annoyed if it is left up, but the other one shouldn't get annoyed if it is left down?? Here's a compromise, both of you not only put the seat down, but put the lid down also. That way you both have to raise something when you use the restroom, and it is more attractive than looking into a cruddy toilet bowl everytime you walk into the bathroom.

I am the mother of 2 boys... And while I was married with (3) men in the house, I got into the habbit of reaching back to makesure the seat was down each time I used the toilet. I hate arguements such as this, and it isn't about respect or control, it's about not falling in! Life is too short to sweat the small stuff!

It's really a non issue, if it's up put it down I mean on average he's gonna have to pull it up more. It's a toilet seat, let it go.

How about you look before you wee wee?

Look, if my wife leaves the seat down - I look - otherwise I just whiz on the seat!

SO guys have to check, but girls do not? How is THAT fair?

I usually just put BOTH down anyways because it looks better. But if I get up in the night, I CHECK before I pee. If women did the same, they would NEVER fall in.

Whenever people fight about toilet seats rules, they are not fighting about toilet seat rules. They are using it as an excuse for a fight. There are so many more important things in life to concern yourself with.

Why not start pad locking the seat in the toilet for a week than it will become a practise.

Personally, I leave everythign down including the top (as does my husband). The act of flushing alone sends millions of germs everywhere - totally gross! So we always always always close the toilet before flushing.

Grow up!
What is the harm in putting it down yourself? Seems you just like to complain about something, just for the sake or arguing. Adults don't fret over the little things in life and if that's our only complaint, just be glad he's not sleeping with your best friend.
