A 6 has two more cylinders, making more power. A four cylinder would get better fuel economy, all other things equal.
If you want more power, go with a 6 cylinder.
If you want slightly better fuel economy, don't mind a loss of power and a less pricey car, go with a four.

Two cylinders.
OK, OK - Generally a six cylinder engine is more powerful than a 4 cylinder, but less than an 8 cylinder - imagine that. In simple language, it's the number of chambers that are burning fuel to run your engine.
For the same reason, a 4 cylinder typically gets better gas mileage.
For example, a Toyota Camry is basically a larger version of the Toyota Corolla. Most Camrys are 6 cylinder while most Corollas are 4 cylinders. Corollas are cheaper and get better gas mileage, but Camrys are roomier and usually have much better acceleration.

4 cylinders= 4 pistons,6 cyl. 6 pistons. usally 4 cylinders get better fuel mileage.Except for Mazda,which make small powerful V 6 engines,that do well on gas mileage.
Your best 4 are toyota with a timing chain.Everyone else uses rubber belts which need expensive changing every 80,000miles.

The simple answer is one has 4 cylinders and the other has 6. A better answer is you usually get more power but less mileage from the 6 cylinder. You will get less power, but better mileage from the 4 cylinder.
