How would you advice me to go about seeking a trial with a soccer club in the USA? I live in England, but travelling to the trials is not an issue. In the unlikely hood of me achieving a contract etc, relocating to the USA is also no problem.

It depends on your age and football ability.
if you are young you can try to enter the draft as an undrafted player. I would contact the US soccer association and ask them how to proceed. If you are older then the limit age then you can always try to find an agent who can make you tryout in different clubs.
I would suggest you get photos, tapes, and info on your playing ability. Good luck.

Chivas USA is having a tryout this weekend just like the Galaxy did a few weeks ago. I would mail the other clubs in MLS and see if they plan on doing the same.

The draft/signing process in the MLS is kinda of wierd so you might want to check on the rules on the MLS website www.mlsnet.com.

Also there is a limit to the number of senior internationals and there are other categories like discovery player etc. So you should be sure you understand the rules and who has options in the area you fit in based on your age etc

I watch a lot of football from around the world, and can definitely say that MLS could never compete on the level of European football. It's not about offense or defense... it's about talent level of players on the field. For instance, If Cristiano Ronaldo were playing in the MLS... do you think the games would still be as tight in that league as they are now? not in a long shot.
