You want the government to help out more, but when you give the government more power, you lose freedoms. Be careful what you ask for. You might end up in a society that is not free.
P.S. Do you have marketable skills? If not, you'd better get some.

An unemployment check is never equal to the amount you made while employed...that is information available to all.
Why is it not the same? If it were, what would be the motivation to get out working again...if you get the same amount of money for not working? Unemployment is available to all those who contributed through their paychecks while employed...and for a limited period. To provide SOME financial assistance while you are searching for another job. Is the system perfect? Hell no! Do you want it changed? Then pay attention to ALL the candidates in the upcoming election - regardless of party - to see who will address this situation in a way that best suits you. That is what the elections are all about .... not just to elect in the candidate from YOUR party...
Good luck in your job search...I hope it isn't lengthy.

Hi,
Look.. sorry to inform you.. but you will not likely ever find another well paid job.. and unfortunately.. the coffers are also dry for your healthcare needs and social security needs..
Sorry.. but all the money was blown in Iraq.. and the rest stolen by Cheny, Rumsfeld, Pearle, Bush and other associated cronies.. through the no bid contracts where they were paid by the American Government to re-build Iraq.. tsk tsk.. Yeah.. lots happening there.. meanwhile some $800billion is GONESKI!!
So.. sorry mate.. but you get jack!!
If you start to starve though.. there are a lot of very very rich americans some worth more than entire nations.. you could ask them nicely.. since many of those individuals have enuogh money to single handedly fund social security.. while you starve..
Othwise.. you could immigrate to Venezuela.. they've got some major social reforms going on there and no doubt you will get a healthy pension over there.. unlike in USA..

unemployed Michigan workers can receive up to $362 a week in benefits, depending upon their earnings and dependents, and they may collect the benefits for up to 26 weeks,” some 617,000 unemployed workers relied on Michigan’s unemployment insurance safety net. These workers drew state or federal unemployment benefits or a combination of both and used these dollars to take care of mortgages, utility bills, food and other basic family needs. In total, Michigan’s unemployment insurance program has issued more than $34.4 billion in benefits

umm unemployment isn't suppose to be a full-time wage to live on, contrary to what most conservatives think about unemployment, and welfare, when they make derogatory statements about the recipients.
they are intended to allow you to survive, until you find another job, not live life like a retiree.
but to answer your question, if you want to find your tax dollars, you can start here....
