I am doing a science project and some of the things I need are blotting paper and a gas jar. Does anyone know where I can get these? Or if possible is there anything I can use besides a gas jar?

The project that I'm doing is to find the effects of gravity on a plant...not separating an ink blot.

Sounds like you want to do some experiments in paper chromatography, right? Like putting a spot of ink on a piece of paper and separating the colors of the different dyes in it?

If so, any container will work; a water glass, a jam jar, anything.

If I'm guessing right, blotter paper isn't necessary. Any filter paper will generally work OK. Try cutting strips from coffee filters, they usually work pretty well.

Read things a bit more carefully. I think you'll find that the requirement is for a glass jar, which is a fairly standard item of commerce. Ask your mother, for a start. As for blotting paper, you are working out of a terribly old book. Blotting paper is a sort of cardboard that soaks up wet ink. As a start, try using newsprint or the roughest cardboard you can find.
