It only means that your question was not correctly understood, or was not interesting enough for more answers to come through for you to get the information you were seeking. I have understood this question though. No it does not make you a bad person if you let the others take the vote.

As someone who answers, but does not ask, I much prefer a decision by the person who wrote the question.

No, i guess not! But if someone has taken the time to answer your query, and given an in depth valid answer it wouldn't take you 2 secs to click best answer and say thanks....

..but it doesn't make you a bad person not doing it!
