there is a knock on our door every night at 10.41pm and there is never anyone there and the letter box is not loose. dont know the houses history, it would be at least 50-70 years old.

Firstly look into structural reasons for the noise - could it be an electrical unit switching on somewhere etc. If it really doesn't have any other explanation, you could ask a local spiritual person to visit the house (a priest, rabbi, psychic etc.) Spiritualist churches are usually listed in town directories. Or you could ask at your library about how to research your property's history (previous residents etc.) Finally, if you're the spiritual type, you could wait for a peaceful moment, go to the door and ask who's there. (You never know...) If it is upsetting or disturbing you, just say so out loud, and ask that whoever is doing it to please go away. If it's a ghost I think you're supposed to tell them to look for a light and walk towards it.

The symptoms you mentioned are typical. It is possible that the house is haunted. Is it your ancestor's house or on unknown folk died in it? It is OK, if you do not know the house's history, but you should do a research, Because without it, no-one can help you. Find out, who was the last or the original owner, find anyone who knew him/her or any data about the house. Try to find a medium or a spiritualist to assist you. Other that that, I do not know what else you can do. It is dangerous to get rid of the ghost alone, especially if there is a poltergeist-ghost in the house. Good luck!

Probably not emm.One theory i heard is that older houses carry a residual echo of things that have happened in the past,so the noise you hear is prob an echo coupled with your imagination.I lived in old house a while back an on the landing to the back room sometimes sounded like someone was walking down towards the back room but obviously nothing there so please dont worry,just house settling or something really simple like that.

At 10:40pm tonight, one minute before the usual knock on your door, open it and stand there for a few minutes to determine if the sound is REALLY coming from the front door. You might find that there's no knocking sound when the door is open. It might in fact be coming from somewhere else in the house, the sound travelling through beams toward the door.

Could be you have some nightly gouls on the prowl but most probably it is an animal such as a barn owl bat or something like that that chooses this time to hunt and knocks against your door. I do not believe in ghosts but I sometimes wonder when i see myself in the mirror in the morning!

Yes definitely haunted. I would say there was a guy murdered in the past from opening his door at about the time around 50 years ago. Sweet dreams.
Sorry thats awful but thats what they say on that crappy programme what is it? Haunted something or other.

your house could be haunted... either by whom lived there before...or perhaps the energy of someone who you have lost in resent years.. they would be knocking to let you know they are there with you, i see orbs in my house also at the bottom of my stairs if i walk up in the dark i am aware of something near me, when i look it moves away..i also have knocking in my house. sometimes on my bedroom door... I think when we feel sad or stressed close family that have passed over to the other side come to us to help us through those bad times..

do you have any other strange goings on , such as lights going on/off , smells , snister shadows anything out of the ordinary ,if so you probably have a sprit who has nit yet passed on , ask around , did any body die under strange circumstances , see if you cam find a friendly medium , they sholud be able to give you more info , I know I have the same goins on in my house !!!!!!!
But dont be afraid they cant harm you ???
