"If at first you don't succeed, redefine success"
success may mean:a level of social status, achievement of an objective or goal, the opposite of failure,- factors as prestige in society= social status, position. occupation, memberships or affiliations as- ethnic group, religion, gender, voluntary associations, fandom, hobby, social stratification,( class,
income, education)occupational prestige, ascribed statuses,
achieved statuses are part of the "success relativity"factors.
Example-, a teacher has a positive societal image (respect, prestige) but may earn little money, which decreases his status. In contrast, a drug dealer, may have low social position though have a high income (relative,hmm?)-,goal settings ,and failure-may be relative to a particular observer or belief . any situation considered to be a failure by one might be considered a success by another, failure are heavily dependent on context of use,so this can be a brief example of why "Success" is relative

Yeah, I agree, why is this in this section?

Anyway, success is relative becuase we each have standards of what we want to acheive.
Some people are happy with a high school degree, some are only happy with a PhD.
So I agree that it's the degree, but also personal expectations.

Simply because EVERYTHING is relative. No matter what you may perceive as an absolute fact, to someone else's perspective, certain aspects of that fact may be different relative to them. Why? It's all relative to the observer's frame of reference. And, sometimes even the frame of reference changes.

Success is not relative from the perspective of the person who has succeeded, because he/she has achieved whatever he/she wanted to achieve. However, what is considered as 'success' by one may not be considered as 'success' by another. It is relative in this sense.

Because success to you might not be success to me. Or we might view success differently dependent on which stages of our life we are. Mazlow's hierarchy of needs is an excellent example.

Success is undoubtedly relative.it varies individually.
The simplest example would be that both a child passing his 1st grade..and a person clearing away his high school...,are successful.
success varies according to situations too.
