why is it that whenever your waiting say in a queue, or for a bus, old people have to talk to you...
i had one this mornin on my way to college saying you need to roll your trousers up, so being polite i was like yer i suppose, but i like em long, then she went on saying that during the war she had to wear trousers so shes grown to hate them and now likes to wear skirts coz it makes her feel like a lady..... ok i can deal with that... but she had to go 1 step further by saying.....

"nar i dont like trousers, i can never get them down quick enough when i get dirrorea"

whats that about?!

lol thats a bit too much information from her.
I think that many old people talk to strangers because there lonely. Being that age many have not got the energy to go out alot and socilaise, there freinds are dead, family has own commitments and so on.
Iv noticed they can make comments about dress but hey, its away they can start conversation. Just keep being poilte, it never hurts anyone.

haha that's funny hahaha

I love how most old people are themselves in public and wherever they are, but not when they're moaning about things or talking about negative things... some of them can really go on about buses being late...

but the old people that talk about something positive ( or anyone actually) it's lovely, more people should be as friendly as that.

The best conversation I ever had was years ago with an irish woman in town, she sat down next to me and started a really nice conversation asking my opinion on marriages, work and focusing on things you love to do etc, she was really philosophical and she helped me alot... it's like something out there knew I would need to remember her advice years later in the future

Most old people feel left out and try often dismally to make a conversation. They just feel lonely or chatty but often come across as being a pest. they lived in another era when everyone spoke freely to one another now everyone is paranoid if spoken to by a stranger. Have a heart they must like your face as you must seem approachable. do not forget all go out a lot more on their own as they use their free bus pass but it is no substitute for a good old chat!

Most of them are pretty lonely so talk to people to alleviate that, you must have a trusting face, good for you,you probably made her day,and and shown her that not all young people are scum, out to hurt them.

What goes round, comes round. One day you'll be old, too, and when some cocky teenager responds to your attempt at casual conversation to pass the time, I hope they are equally as in-your-face with their response.

Its about a poor lonely old lady with a mental problem needing someone to talk to. Please be considerate and make allowances for people you know nothing about.

Let them talk & act interested. Maybe that's the only conversation they'll have all day
