I didn't get my wife anything for Valentines, nor did she get anything for me. We have been married for 14 yrs. and not a day goes by that I don't tell her I love her, how much she means to me, and how I think she's sexy.

I agree, it is commercial, and we should tell our spouses these things daily, the thing is not all of us do, I try to and I think I do well, but some people need an excuse to have that special day to dote on one another. your right though, it is about money, if a holiday is advertised four to six weeks in advance, than its definitly commercial.

I agree with you. My husband and I do not have to celebrate valentines day since we also tell each other how much we love each other every day. We have been married 29 years so we must be doing something right.

No, you're not the only one. I also think that most holidays are commercial. And even the ones that are not commercial are turned commercial. Its too bad that corporate america has to take all the greatness of these special holidays to turn a profit.

i agree with you and if you noticed as soon as the day rolls around it is like they have to jack all the prices up on the roses and ever little heart thing there is. my husband and i have been married 10 years and i dont belive there has to be a certain day when you share how much you love someone he brings me home flowers all the time not just on that one day.

Uh huh. Frankly, words mean nothing and actions are everything. You don't have to buy her a card, but to not recognize what she means to you on Valentines day is stupid of you. You could write her a poem, give her a massage, send her off to a day spa, or give her a gift card to a bookstore, wherever her interests lie. My guess is she doesn't give you a card because there isn't a point in it. The last man who said something like this to me, is now divorced and his wife is remarried and he gets to visit his kids on Tuesdays and every other weekend. Have you ever asked her how she feels about it? You might want to.

Then for you guys don't do anything for Valentines Day.

I think it's mainly a day for people who are dating to express their affection.

Nobody said we all have to participate.

Yes, you and you alone have made the leap of insight to realize the Valentine's day is commercial. The rest of us, poor benighted sots that we are, are still lost.
