I had open mesh surgery 3 weeks ago for inguinal hernia. I'm 40 and in good shape. After two weeks, it seemed to be getting better. Now, however, I'm having more burning than last week (2-3 inches below incision and around the whole area). It's a lower-level version of the sharp pain during days two to four. It goes up to and including the top of the part "down below" (guys know what I'm talking about).

Also, due to extreme sensitivity down below, walking normally isn't comfortable. Instead, I walk with my legs more apart than usual to limit any tapping down there. Likewise, I cannot sleep on my stomach, and exercise is out.

Has anyone had similar experience(s)? Maybe I'm just impatient, but I know a couple of people who had inguinal hernia surgery and felt 90-95% at 2 weeks. I'm obviously nowhere close.

Thanks.

ive had 2 hernia operations. they both took a couple of months for everything to get back to normal. at 2 weeks i was still haiving problems using the bathroom. although i wish i would have used my first doctor for second operation cuz my first scar is rather small and the second one is real long. but back on subject it will take a couple of months even though my docs said it would be sooner. Once you get back to normal make sure u breathe properly when u workout.
