Completely different.

A "high school" in the US is secondary school. For about ages 13-17 or 18.

UCLA is a university. You attend this after high school. This is where you get a bachelors degree.

To attend North Hollywood High School, you simply have to live in the school district and in it's area where it gets students. THen, if you're the right age and educational level, you can go there. No other requirements really. The equivalent in France is a combination of the collèges and the lycées.

UCLA is a college. It is higher education. You have to apply to be admitted. Your grades and standardized test scores must be VERY high to be accepted. An equivalent French school would be the Université de Paris.
