For many of them it is for financial reasons, they are invested in pharmaceuticals, big oil, Wall Mart, the Military Industrial complex, tax breaks etc. For these ethics are trumped by dollars.
The rest are believers as opposed to free agent thinkers by nature and being believers are open targets for propaganda and tunnel vision once they have opted into an ideology.

Thinking people. The kind that don't give a flying f*** who Brittany Spears is. The working people who are the bedrock. But unfortunately there are more snivelers, gays, liberals and other miscreants in this country. We are losing; the best us conservatives can now hope for is to delay the bitter end.

I beleive they are very religious, fundamentalist people like my parents who fear gay marriage and other liberal ideas he preaches against.
