Generally speaking there are two types of ways to enter HR. One involves working for a staffing firm and the other involves working in corporate HR. I'm assuming you are looking for a corporate HR career as most are. Within corporate HR they usually break the categories into Generalist and Specialist. Within the speacialist area there are many different career paths the main being Benefits & Compensation, Human Resources Information Systems Management, Training & Development, Org. Dev., Recruitment, labor relations... You might consider joining the Society of Human Resources Management as a key way to meet people and network to advance your career.
