I have come to understand that a house is a building. A home is more an emotion -- it's what you make it. An apartment can be a home, but it is not a house. You know, like making a home for yourself or your family does not mean building a house. Sometimes a house is NOT a home. "Coming home" can mean returning to a town, state or country. Think of what "Coming Home" means to a soldier!

A house is a single standing structure, versus something such as an apartment. A home can be any structure but is more intangible in the terms that it's how you feel about a place rather than the type of structure that it is.

A house is the structure you live in but a house becomes a home when you are emotionally connected to it and the people or pets that inhabit it.

A house is the structure you see from the outside. A home is the the kind of life you live inside the strucure...comfortable, loving, and restful.

Any house can be a house. Home is what makes it your house. Home makes you feel comfortable and welcome and safe. House is a structure. Made of materials that mean nothing.
