I think it should be legalized for the same reasons that they repealed the 18 amendment.
They are putting in prison too many otherwise law abiding citizens for something that is way less potent than alcohol.
And the only reason it was made illegal in the first place was because the cotton industry was losing business to the hemp industry, so they put on a smear and fear campaign in hopes of getting it outlawed.

Oh, just so you know, I don't use it.

I heavily help legalizing marijuana. The war on drugs is basically an extension of prohibition, and that did no longer finally end up o.k.. All it is doing now could be becoming black markets and killing harmless human beings and putting much greater possibility loose pot human beings who smoke in reformatory. Alcohol is greater deadly and poisonous than marijuana could ever desire to be, whether it is criminal everywhere, and we've large classified ads in the process the Superbowl advertising alcohol. no longer in trouble-free terms that, yet we are in a position to apply Marijuana for medicinal applications, which we do now, yet is illegitimate in maximum states and via federal regulation. On an factor observe, evidently hemp seeds are an extremely dietary meals source. between the different food, they incorporate finished protein chains and don't incorporate adequate tetrahydrocanabinol (THC: below 0.01%) to make you severe.

Bottom line as a former Corrections officer and Deputy Billions upon billions of dollars are spent on fighting caniibis consumption.

At least decriminalize it and spend the billions on education with life skills classes that so many of our youth do not receive at home.

After all Bush does say we need to keep our technical edge in order to maintain our current economic dominance in the world.

America's public school system isn't even close to many other nations educational systems. These monies could be far better spent than on a problem you can't beat.

I think so. There are quite a few medical benifits for people with certian health problems. I really doubt there would be much if any increase in deaths due to weed. You aren't going to hurt much driving 7 miles an hour (that's a joke), it tends to mellow people not cause violence like alcohol does. Also look at all the lovely tax the government could gain.

No. Why should it? It has a negitive effect on the brain....what good would come of that? Less people arrested for it? The more people arrested for it=the less amount of people using it=less abuse on their brains. You know who wants this drug legalized? The people that use it.

Note to "Mike": More deaths would occur if the drug was legalized because a) more people would take it, and b) people would take more of it. During Prohibition (when alchohol was illegal), alchohol related deaths decreased greatly. The reverse effect would accour if Marijuana was legalized.

Yes, the war on drugs is a war on Americans, not to mention that it is a money pit. This is advertised to be a free country, but just like any other form of advertising, it's a big fat lie.

Legalized only in certain areas and only used in Marijuana bars. That way it would be sold in cigarette holders and smoke on bar premesis.

yes, if alcohol is legal, why not ? It does NOT have the effects of alcohol, it is a lesser degree of a "buzz" and everybody knows it ! The government would have something else to tax, so.........and, it's already being used for medicinal purposes for cancer patients. It is great for stomach problems.
