I have a really big problem, I'm not sure if I'm bad or good in math, I usually get good grades in it, the problem is, now I'm in an advanced level, and it's getting really hard, I don't understand the explanation of the teacher nor the book, I can't afford a tutor, my mom can't help since she doesn't know much, my dad knows everything but he doesn't want to help, that's out of the question. I don't know what to do. I don't wanna fail or get a bad grade. I'm all in tears right now, I'm running out of time, and it's getting worse every second. How am I gonna continue? I keep on telling myself I'll understand, but I keep onreading and it's just a waste of time, what am I going to do?

Right, listen here..
The first thing to do is stop panicing. I apologise for my spelling if that's the wrong way to spell it but anyway.. it's a fact that advanced maths is going to be much harder but it's like everything else it can be handled. Have you sat down to talk with your dad? Maybe he doesn't realise how important this is to you and how emotional you are feeling about it? I suggest you have a word with him for a start. Then what about the teacher? Why not ask him personally after class or something if you feel it would benefit you. A teacher will always be willing to help out, after all it is their job. Also i wouldn't feel so negative about the whole situation. Stop telling yourself that you can't do it because this will only make you feel bad about yourself and anything is possiible. Yeah and i did maths myself but only up until GCSE level, additional maths it was. I found it pretty difficult but i asked the teacher about it because my parents weren't really great at maths and the teacher was great about it. Also you could ask a mate or something? But remember the key is not to get too worked up about it, i was like you at one stage. Just be calm and don't be afraid to do any of the things i suggested man. You will come through it;)

Talk to your teacher or the guidance counselor at school. If the teacher isn't available to help you - or isn't able to help you - maybe the guidance counselor can set you up with someone else in the school who can help you - an older student who's taken the class, for example. Also, pair up with some others in the class who are doing ok and help each other out.

most of all, don't panic. You'll get it with time. Keep practicing, ask a lot of questions in class, seek out help wherever you can find it.

Calm down, take a deep breath, make yourself a cup of tea.

Then start searching the net. After you read the explanation by a few different people, from different viewpoints, it begins to make sense a little better.

I have found that many math textbooks are just terrible on explaining the concepts and procedures. A lot of math sites on the web are a lot more logical.

i am absolutely HORRIBLE at math, you have no idea... almost every school has an after school math program, or you can ask your teacher to let you stay after and get a little one on one tutoring with her (or other math teachers don't mind you going into their classes) to get better examples, etc. I did that as often as i felt i needed to (almost every day, just so i could pass) and miraculously i passed all my math classes with a B or higher! just check out what programs or after school classes your teacher/school has that will help you!
