being a herbavore, the rabbit is less important than the fox.
because a fox is primarily a carnivore, and helps keep rabbit populations in check, as well a mice, and cleans up dead animals either on the road, or in the wild.

Good professional biologist like myself don't rate one animal better than another. Both fox and rabbit have positive and negative attributes. Both have a place in the ecosystem. Both are generally enjoyed by humans.

So. Why would anyone pick one over the other?

Both have their place in the food web. Get rid of either one, and there would be far-reaching consequences to many other parts of the web.

IMO the rabbit. My kids have rabbits and it's also my chinese astrology sign. ;)
