What can we do about pin thin models?

How can we rid ourselves of them?

I have met them. My sister's one.

Force-feed them pizza. Make the media stop showing them as role-models.

The focus should be on getting them to a physically healthy state, not "ridding ourselves" of them.
Some areas of the fashion industry are beginning to address the issue by placing requirements on a minimum weight or body fat. Over time, this should create an atmosphere that does not so strongly promote unhealthy eating habits.

you can't do anything to get rid of them, but if people start not buying the magazines with these models in then people will make less money and there for the need for models will decrease.
the only thing we can do is not to compare our selves to the ill looking people, and just be who we are and be happy with ourselves.

What a wonderful question!
I think that the only thing that will make a difference is if we reject them and what ever product or service they advertise! Write letters to the companies that use them to represent their products. Tell them that we find their use of anorexic , skeletal looking models to be offensive. Tell them that we find their artificial representation of real women to be offensive and dangerous to young women who are unfortunately looking to the media as a mirror of themselves! Reject what they represent!
Speak out. Tell everyone that will listen.
Help young women to understand that they are not the ones that are wrong. Tell them that these skinny, undernourished women are NOT sexy, are NOT beautiful. They are artificial representations of what real women look like! Look around you.....look at the women at the grocery store, in church, at work, at the bank..... all around us, they do not look like these pitiful skinny people.
Do you know that they have had to invent new sizes that did not even exist before so that they will fit the new skinny women? Not only that but clothing manufacturers have made normal sizes (like a ten or a twelve, consistantly smaller and smaller each year!
Speak up, speak out! It is all we can do!

I make it a point to write at least one letter or talk to at least one person about this everyday! Talk to your daughters or your neices, help young women to know that this is wrong.
If you are a man refuse to date skinny women! Tell healthy looking women that they are beautiful!

we need to stop going to fashion shows that feature annorexic models and we need to stop buying the clothing that they are modelling..

this is a trend that will be tough to change. change has to be slow and gradual.. but it's ridiulous how so many young teen girls seem to always think they are too fat, even if they weight like 80 pounds..

Why would you hate someone you never even met? And why would you want them to "be gone" or "die"? How could anyone be so hateful as to make a statement like you just did. If you are so fat and unhappy, try taking better care of yourself so somebody will love you.

well the fashion designers like them to be rail thin, it saves them alot of money , they like them to be a size 0 to 2, they use showcase cloths for fashion shows, think about it less material, and they jack the price up , so lets go after them !!!

Why do you want to rid yourself of a specific group of people? Can't you just accept people for who they are?

What if everybody felt that way about one specific group or another? Would that be a better world in your view?
