Only if an assist counted as a goal as well. Otherwise, lower percentage shots might be taken as opposed to a pass to an open striker. Soccer is the ultimate team sport. Goals are scored as a unit. No one individual makes much of a difference if the team is not in sync. Your proposal might also encourage more high risk play by the strikers that would result in more turnovers. I think it might be better if the team as a whole were rewarded financially for a win or even a draw in some circumstances.

That is a fantastic idea cause it pisses me off the amount they get paid. ....and they should have to donate 3 goals each to charity per year. if you added up one very famous footballers goals would he really be worth the £128,825,000 he's being offered????

I believe many of them would not, however there are always a few people staunch to their cause who probably would continue out of principal
