Should you sign up? It depends if you want to earn on your site. Many people, myself included, are earning good money from Adsense (though many more cannot even reach $10)

No - Adsense will send payment through electronic funds transfer to your CHECKING account. If your debit card is connected to your checking account, then you can access your funds via your debit card. But this option is not available to all countries. If your country does not have EFT payments, Google sends a check.

I guess, if your debit card is issued as a result of opening a checking account, a deposit to your checking account could be considered a deposit to your debit card indirectly.

Whether you sign up for Adsense is up to you. If your home based business is doing well, why would you need it?

There is also some speculation as to whether Google takes placing it's ads on your webpage helps in how well your webpage does on it's search engine. Of course, they will not tell you whether it does or not.
