I need an example for this friend of mine that just had a baby, it the sweetest thing and the parents want to make me and my husband god-parents. But the mother isn't very smart. She smoked pot and cigs. the whole pregnancy. The docs warned her that if it was in the babies system they would take it away. Well sure enough it was and now they are going to test her(the mom) again in a few weeks to make sure it's out of her system. She still thinks it's okay to smoke pot, it's like she cares more about smoking for three weeks then she does her baby. she thinks if she cuts down and only smokes a little then she'll be fine. I think she's crazy. does anyone have a true story about a baby getting taken away over pot so i can maybe throw her back into reality. She needs to here an example of it actually happening to someone, maybe that will change her mind. Well, at least it worth a shot.

Well, it never happened to me but I did watch my cousins go through all that. My aunt and uncle were all about drinking and smoking pot, they were warned about everything one time and they didn't take it seriously. Well, one day defax went to the school to pick up my six year old cousin and found that he was not at school. Somehow my uncle had got a feeling and was packed up and ready to run, you know you cannot run from these people, they are with the government. So anyway, the defax caseworker pulled up along with three police cars to pickup Zack(6years old) and Lee(3 monthes old). When they take your children there is not enough time to say goodbye. They went through the foster care for 7 monthes before my grandmother could even get a court date to get them. I did talk to Zach after he got out and the way that most children see it is that their parents did not love them enough to keep them. The foster parents tell them that. I have twin 18 month girls and could not see my girls go through living with people they do not know especially after being tooken from the only person that they believe in. I honestly believe that if you love your child you will do what you have to do, whether that means quitting drugs, or even getting a job. You will never know how much you love that child until he or she is gone!!! And after they take them nine times out of ten you will never get them back.
Tell your friend that you will keep her child for her for two weeks and neither of the parents can come visit. that will show them how it feels not to be able to visit their child. NOW imagine thats forever.

Nothing is going to change her mind, especially answers on yahoo. She is an addict if she can't follow the law. She has already started her child's life off on the wrong note and now is again compromising the child's safety. Her child will be taken a way pot stays in your system a long time. They will not be testing for how much pot she smoked, the fact her test is positive is all the proof they need to show what a poor parent she is.
good luck

My daughter was already born, I was only 18, (29 now) I had her very young, but there was a party at my house one evening and my daughter was there asleep. The party ended up being busted by the police due to all the underage people, myself included, and though no pot was found, I was hit with paraphenalia for a pipe, and child endangering for my daughter being in the presence of it. They did take her that night, I was lucky my family helped me and had her back the next day, but they don't joke around. I had to meet with childrens service workers, do community service and parenting classes for what seemed to be years after. I'm glad to have learned my lesson and smartened up. I am in no way against smoking pot, but there are more responsible times and places to do it and pregnant or around children is neither the time nor place.

yes!!.ma..Your friend needs to wake and really start to smell the real smoke around her. Her baby will be taken away...One of my best friend (female 25 yrs old) just was in the same situation. But accept that her son is already born. She on pot and drugs like crazy and don't seen to be able to get out of it or even trys to.. Well now the county has her son and there are still court dates to attend on who will be caring for her son b/c it is not going to be her. The child is in frost-er care and she is in a recovery place for pot and drug user to get better.

When you are hurting, and have some serious issues she thinks that weed will cover those things up. Have her go to counseling. Find out how to encourage her to be a productive person in life. Right now she is at a stumbling block in her life.
