It's Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix for me (Book 5)... I prefer this book to the others, because it steers away from the conventional and easy to understand plots of the preceding novels and actually gives us a far better and detailed insight into the Magical World. Book 5 also outlines the transition betwen Harry's adoloscence to maturity factor and I would also like to add that the storyline is quite interesting and exciting without the obvious complexities and conincidences noticed in the previous books. I also thought the supporting roles were played really well by Umbridge and the assortment of Ministry of Magic members. All in all, my favourite book so far... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Harry in the 7th and last installment of this great Magial expedition.

rubbish? not a very good answer, best selling books of all time are they not? if not they're damn close. my favourite is split between 3 and 4, probably 3 though because the story steers away from voldermort being the baddy at the end (like a computer game) as is the story in mostof the others

I'll be honest I only read the first two because my wife loves them, and I can't see what the big deal is about. Maybe that's because I prefer adult writing. There are far better fantasy writers out there.

Even my wife says by the last book it was beginning to get a bit 'samey'.

I would have to say that mine is book 6. I think that the further along the series we get the better the books get. I cant wait for the last book but I also dont I also dont want it to finish 'cause that will be really sad.

Let me be honest too--Harry Potter is strictly a kids book. It is not even close to matching with the greats--the classic authors like Steinbeck, Rand, Salinger, Orwell, etc...

They're good books--probably one of the best in our generation, but that's not saying much because our generation doesn't have many good authors. But they're just overrated, and not considered good works of literature by the literary critics.

Might I add, answering in British gets a bit annoying---spelling favorite "favourite", using rubbish. There is a British "Answers".
