I came out of the closet this week to my parents, but they did not take it well. I just turned 18, so they felt they had the right to throw me out of the house, and my father actually hit me a few times. I am now writing this from an internet cafe and have about $1200 in the bank. What should I do? I am still in highschool for crying out loud.

Poor kid, my parents did the same thing to me. Do you have any relatives you could go to? Any close friends? Is there a counselor at your school that you could speak to about a place to live? It's harder in a small town, there are usually no resources for us. Are you religious, is there a clergy-person you could get help from? You're obviously on the net, start looking online for help.
The best thing is to stay in school, even though that's the hardest. Spend some of your money on a safe place to stay if you have to, find an after-school job to earn some more. Eat healthy, stay away from drugs and alcohol even though they will temporarily make you feel better.
You're gonna find out who your real friends are, I'm sure it's gotten around by now. Use all the safe help you get.
Bottom line, keep yourself healthy and safe. Your parents' bigotry is no reason for you to ruin your life. I know it's hard to get through, but it can be done. I did it, and I'm nothing special. I'm sure you can too!!!
Good luck sweetie. Hugs.

Do you have an Aunt or Uncle or Cousin to contact? Other family members might not be as negative. I have a hard time believing parents would treat you like that. Unbelievable!!!! My heart goes out to you. Let friends know what is happening. They can be a great help, both physically and emotionally.

I'm with Dave.

Are you a former fatty who discriminates against women?
Or are you an 18 year old who just came out of the closet?
Or are you a school age kid who got suspended for praying before lunch?
Or did you just not realize that all the questions you've ever asked are in your profile???

The only thing I can tell you is to try and ask a good friend can you stay with them, because your rents kicked you out. If that does not work look for a local shelter for homeless Gay teens , and that does not work just go to a regular shelter, and if that does not work try talking with someone in your family who might not care that you are Gay , and see if you can stay with them. That's all I got.... I hope it helps.....

Find the nearest branch of PFLAG. They should be able to help or find groups that can help you get back on your feet. It's not going to be easy, but it's possible. They've got branches located all over the place, so there should be a branch fairly close to you.

Dude that sucks. You should have waited. If you have other family, try to stay with them. If not, try talking to the princial or a guidance councelor and they can probably help you to be able to finish out high school at your school

I reccomend you contact your high school counselor. they can help you find a good social service. Go to some Gay teen websites and get some of their advise. Stay in contact with your family. Good luck.
