How does the universe expand? Universe is a vast expanse of nothingness. Unlike filling balloon with air, the concept is much beyond that.
My friend, you heard of the big bang theory. It has been proven beyond doubt, with calculations and measuring the vibration on earth and other planets that big bang caused many things around sun. Many things still happen in the universe. Perhaps a big bang is taking place around some star somewhere in the universe as you read this.
It is ever expanding. This process does not stop. It is estimated that it may NEVER stop expanding.

The universe expands due to the big bang explosion which got exploded about 200 million years ago and so till now the universe is expanding.This expansion will not end untill the power of the explosion collapses.

You must see it as a 4 dimensional expansion. It seems it has been in infinite in 3d from the start, but everything is moving away from everything else, so it's really the space in between things that is getting bigger.

many people believe that it may not be everything.. im not sure what your belief is, but many believe that the universe is not infinite, but that it instead has boundaries and is spherically shaped.. also, some have suggested that there may be multiple universes that are in a similar state of ours, creating something much larger called a multi-verse.. you just gotta love thinking about this stuff

Its expanind int he sense that the galaxies are moving apart from each other. By expansion it doesnt mean somehting new material is coming in.
