I have been underweight like since I was born. I'm not anorexic or bolimic (maybe I have been once, I'm not sure). I am 24 years old 5' and only weigh 78 lbs (34 k). My activity level is only moderate. I exercise 10min. cardio 3x a week and 15reps (2 sets) of squats with 4k weights 3x a week. I eat cheese and white bread a lot, 1 glass of milk after dinner. Eat 4x a day. I still wonder what I'm doing wrong. Should I just eat lots of nuts and chocolates every day? I'm not into taking whey, protein shakes or anything like that. Please help!

See a doctor to come up with a plan but being a underweight according to the body mass index is sometimes okay for your body. Don't fall for those 'real women' campaigns.

Well, your BMI is very low. I was going to say that you should probably focus on building more muscle, and adding just some fat, but you might just need some more fat. I don't know, talk to your doctor, or find a nutrtionist to help you.

But my advice still remains, add fat, but focus on building muscle, meaning lots of protein rich foods, meat and soy products is usually where you'll get the majority of protein, but there are other foods, such as eggs(the whites) are also rich in protein. For building muscle, it's usually reccomended that you eat 6 small meals a day, instead of three large meals a day. Two hours apart. Lots of cardio and maybe even try some weights (not too heavy lol). Because there are girls that would kill to be your size, so be sure you don't just go eating a bunch of junk food.

I'm not exactly sure how the best way is to gain fat, so as I said, you should consult your doctor or a nutrtionist. Good luck though!

I'm a nurse. Protein drinks and exercise. I would see a doctor first for the best plan that would fit your body and/or it's needs.
