You are twelve and you are still growing. I mean what do you eat? If it were junk food I might understand her point but if you are eating food that is good for you she has nothing to say. You sound like a strong person already don't be worried about getting an eating disorder... Good luck.

Not eating dinner is not going to help you, it's just going to be harmful to your body. You're 12, which means that you are coming up on puberty. You body is going to want you to eat more, however you commented above that you were binge eating, which isn't the best thing. It's okay to eat a lot, but going on binges isn't healthy. Instead, try to stock up on fruits and veggies during meanls, as well as get all the food groups in during the day. Have small snacks two or three times a day if you're hungry (apple, cheese, yougurt, etc.). While you may not be fat, eating and eating (especially junk food) can lead to some problems down the road.

Talk to your mom and tell her that when she says those things that it hurts. Unfortunately some people, even parents or best friends, have a way of saying things that bother us. Sometimes these things can stick with a person their whole life. I still remember things my mom or sisters have said to me years ago!! They stick because they hurt.

You are at a delicate age...you are still having growth spurts and are developing a whole other set of hormones you didn't have before. This may be the reason for your "binges". I suspect that this is not abnormal. Everyone has days where they just pig out. Its just how it is! If you and your mother are really concerned, have her take you to your family doctor. You should even suggest that. Maybe that would finally get your mom to "put a sock in it".

Good luck!

I think you should go to the library research the nutrition needs of a 12 year old and armed with this information, sit down with your mom and explain that there will be times in your adolescence that you have growth spurts and you need the nutrition to support this.
You also need to identify if you are eating junk foods vs food of nutritional value (veggies fruit). It may be that this is the food your mom is concerned with and her issues are that you eat too much of this. Good luck

This is the quickest way to end up with an eating disorder. Be strong and don't listen to her. Maybe have a chat to her a tell her how you fell and maybe she could give you some ideas on how to be healthier if you need to be.
Good Luck

Ignore it!! My mum used to call me the "Human Dustbin", I ate LOADS but I never put on weight, it's not worth crying about, or missing dinner over.

As long as you're not overweight, there is no reason why you shouldn't eat the amount that you're body is asking for, go ahead - eat, I always just laughed it off and carried on when my mum teased me!

Stay happy! ;-)

That sounds bad that you would have such an emotional reaction. Can you tell someone that you know close to you how you feel? That would be the best thing if you can't discuss it with your mother.
