I reference Michael Jordan when he was asked who he'd like to take the shot to win a game if it wasn't him, and he answered with no hesitation "Larry Bird." Who else agrees he was the most clutch basketball player of all time, second possibly to MJ.

He's definitley second to MJ. I dont remember Larry Bird ever making a shot to win the NBA Finals. Still my favorite moment in Bulls history ever.

After Michael Jordan, Larry Bird definitely was. Larry was also probably the best passer in the game, second being Magic Johnson. He could throw them behind his back to a teammate without even looking. And who else besides Bird is known for making the behind the bankboard shot. He was the first to do it. Larry Bird has a very wide field of view when he sees. It is about twice what normal people have. That's why he was so good at passing. Also when they first started the slam dunk contest, Jordan didn't start winning it till about the third year or so. At that time, they also started doing the three point contest. Larry Bird dominated the three point contest. Hardly no could come close to touching him. Chris Mullen was probably the closest.

The thing is you have two completely different styles of ball players between Jordan and Bird. Jordan was probably the most talented by far, with a lot of his prowess coming off instinct and sheer ability. Where Bird was a guy to think, plan, and outwit his opponents. He was like a chess player playing basketball. He'd know the moves almost everybody would make before they'd even make them and it was like he could basically see the plays and moves in his head. If you were sitting on the sidelines with him, he could probably tell you which way the guy was going to fake, step, or try to block you and how to counter it. Bird didn't have the talent Jordan did, but he made up for it by knowing how to outwit people.

If I was going to pick a player to be a great team leader, I'd pick Jordan. If I was going to pick a player to be a great team coach, I'd pick Bird. Bird was the only coach to figure out how to break Jackson's triangle/3-man style offense. Two completely different styles, but two awesome players.

he's between the mind-blowing shooters ever. perhaps no longer the most ideal 3 aspect shooter yet Steve Kerr isn't on the fringe of being the mind-blowing both. the in trouble-free terms aspect you've proved is that you're for sure no longer a Larry fowl fan and that you're a Steve Kerr brown-noser.

Strictly clutch shooter. I have to go with Robert Horry. Not a real superstar, but difinitely made clutch final shots in the playoffs.
