It was on BBC2 on Sunday and repeated last night. I cant imagine the BBC would risk the lives of Clarkson and co knowing Americans can be armed and dangerous.

I think it was all staged!!!!

The only part I thought might have been staged was the cow on the car!! It looked all bloated, like it had been dead for days, it could have poisoned them.

I thought it was very funny, even better than the caravaning episode from last year, but also tragic in a way. Esp when they went to New Orleans, how could the richest country in the world allow one of their major cities to remain in ruins!!!! It shocked me. And I was also shocked by the narrow minded attitudes of some of the people. I know different nationalities have slightly different quirks to their humour, but these people seemed to have none at all. What were they so threatened by? I suppose they honestly thought no one would be mad enough to harm 3 fellas out having a laugh, but seems the BBC could have pitched it wrong.

I think it was spliced and highly edited for 'entertainment' value. When the woman at the petrol station came running out of the shop, yelling at Clarkson "Are you guy for real?" I instantly wondered what Clarkson had said to her off camera to get such a response. I reckon something was said when their slogans on the cars didn't get the appropriately aggressive reaction. As you might have noticed, a lot of drivers passed the three Top Gear guys on the motorway - most giving them a sneer, or shaking their heads, or a few lorry drivers tooting their horns, but none of them reacted in an aggressive or threatening manner.

I'm finding lately that Clarkson's humour and need to take the mick out of everyone and everything a bit tedious. It's always at other peoples' expense, and it's verging on nastiness. Hammond, on the other hand, I think is extremely funny. His dead-pan and dry sense of humour often has me in giggles.

Overall, I'd have to say that I didn't find it as laugh-out-loudable as most people found it here. I just wish that someone would turn the table on Clarkson to balance things out a bit.

I live in Georgia and the bits I've seen on Youtube are accurate. The south in the USA does have pockets of people that react that way. We in Georgia have changed te state flag twice since I moved here 9 years ago. There is a large group that still looks at the country as the North and South and the South will rise again!

Thank God they didn't use the restroom at the gas station.

why do no longer human beings in basic terms start up asking who santa is... end asking ya won't discover out.. some ex stigs have blabbed approximately them being a prior stig.. (losers for doing it) the secret's a factor of the relaxing.. it is not damon hill as some human beings might think of, by using drivers shape, until eventually he's gotten smaller AND have been given somewhat fatter. I even have extra theory's who it incredibly is, yet attempt to be older to have a robust theory.. it is somebody 40+ i'm guessing for confident. a million) it is not a woman like sabine schmitt etc (by using whilst he walked around london) 2) it incredibly is an ex professional f1 motive force , by using utilising traces he takes

I think some parts the cow were staged but the rest was real. Really funny staged or not as you said.

I'd say partly staged, especially the bit with the cow on the car roof. However lets not be so critical & enjoy what was a very amusing hour.

It is suspicious the way Captain Slow always seems to get the car with the duff electrics, like when they did the "supercar for ten grand challenge". Still a hoot though, watched it twice.

I don't think it was a set up. Surely they would class this as less dangerous as Hammond crashing at 280mph......

It must be great fun working for the production team and thinking of situations to put them in!!!!

I don't think that the garage scene was staged, they really do hate gays down in alabama, if any of the show was staged I'd say it was the dead cow!

It wasn't staged. That's what Americans are really like.

I think maybe the lads didn't expect such a reaction...
