Possibly, but it would be easier to stay in their own country, at least the USA since I don't know about the UK, to learn and convert. There are plenty of Muslim communities here that would gladly teach them.

YES.. it is true. Why couldn't it be??
Egypt is a very good place for non-Arab Muslims , Egypt is"puppet of the west"... you can live as a Western and Muslim in Egypt without really getting the feeling "you are someone different now".. because it is a multi-cultural community, in Egypt you can easily find the community that suits you the most, whether you are a "radical' Muslim or Christian , or you are a western-cultured person or even a atheist , you will always find small communities around that makes you feel "you are not far from home"..
I attend a weekly halqa "religious meeting" with a group of converts they basically come from the USA , UK and many others from Africa , and I see how Egypt was a good choice for all after trying several other places..
If you need more help with this , I know lots of non-Arab converts around who can help !

I am an Australian and frequently go to Egypt.
While travelling, I have met people who are going to Egypt to study Islam.
But not just to become a Muslim,as they can do that here or in any country that has a mosque.
I have found that when you spend a considerable time in a Muslim country, and begin mixing with people who follow Islam. A lot of what you thought or didn't even know about Islam, begins to change and make a lot of sense.
It is not an overnight thing but gradually you begin to realise Islam is far more about the family and working together, united, and really caring for and helping each other no matter what.
While a lot of Christian's have become very" Me" orientated and see good works as a way to get God points.
Muslims also never try to convert you,or knock on your door just to give you a prayer and a leaflet.
Then a good ear bash about God and how you need their brand.
I have also begun to read the Koran, and find far more sense in it than I thought I would.
But I don't consider myself as belonging to Islam.
Then its been a long time since I felt comfortable with the Bible's teaching's either.
Since I began studies in archaeology and then the field of Egyptology.I've become so aware of the blatant rewriting of history by Christianity.
I really think more come here to experience the lifestyle and find Islam suits it more.
But the majority come here just to learn Arabic.

Islam is the last religion came from god and it completes and update all the true things that came in both Judaism and Christianity. Also it's very logic and deals with the mind of the human and accept everybody as a human. I am just a normal Muslim and I know that. can you imagine if a good thinker read or know more about Islam .. what can he/she do? Islam is very strong and for all era and dates. The main miracle of the Profit of Islam was Quran (Muslim Holly book) if anyone read the book or try to understand some of it and think about it, it's then a matter of time to convert. If someone else just keep attack Islam or try to prevent people to know about it, he will never succeed and it will never affect Islam.
These are only few reasons that it's true that the rate of non Muslims who convert to Islam is increasing in USA and Europe even when Muslim countries are in their worst condition in the history. That's also another proof that Islam in itself is very strong and powerful even if Muslims are weak. By the way Islam was always the religion of the weak people as it makes weak human strong by just being a Muslim.
Everyone should read about Islam and I offer links there for anyone interested.

Ok, I guess the previous answerers have already confirmed that some people actually do, the question is why and that is what i am going to tackle in my answer.
- Egypt has always been the country where a lot of people covert to Islam for a simple reason. Egypt is home to the Islam's oldest and most respected religious school & university - Al Azhar.
Al Azhar has for centuries been the destination for converting to Islam, due to its immense religious heritage that is recognized throughout the world. It is true, anyone can convert to Islam in any mosque and under the supervision of any sheikh, but Al Azhar has always been the source of genuine legtitimacy.
- Some people convert in Saudi Arabia, the birth place of Islam and in general converts can do it any where, but they always seek the proper religious authority to undertake the process.

Yes, for two reasons. They've developed a desire to convert back home and have traveled to Egypt or the Middle East to enhance the spiritual experience. Imagine converting to Christinaity in Bethlehem. Second, they've lived in an Islamic dominant society like Egypt or Indonesia and the experience has inspired them to convert.
Still, some may convert because they've married a local and it's required or to improve there standing in the community.

Stoning has been around lots longer than Islam, in actuality Jews stoned human beings and have been going to stone Mary Magdeline had Jesus (PBUH) no longer interveened. for this reason the saying from the Bible "He that hast no longer sinned forged the 1st stone". i myself would experience uncomfortable with you as a Muslim, yet possibly you ought to prepare for a job in corrections and develop into the guy that flips the turn on electric powered chairs for the period of executions in the U. S.. that is given which you're that twisted to prefer that kind of paintings, in any different case it may be clever so which you would be able to stay out of the middle east.
