Carbon monoxide gas is harmful to anyone. However ordinary 'cooker' gas is not fatal in small doses. I do think it's a good idea to open all your windows etc and 'air' your house - and if the baby shows any signs of illness, lethargy etc take him to a doctor immediately.

I wouldn't have thought so unless your baby was directly in contact with the flow of gas. I'm sure there is nothing to worry about i mean we take our babies outside with all the smog and rubbish that comes out of cars so I'm sure your baby will be just fine. Obviously keep an eye on him/her and if you notice anything unusual then contact your midwife or the doctors

I would imagine that it depends on how long you had the gas on? If you had it on and were sitting down there for quite some time then that isn't good or, were you only down there for five minutes or so? You need to figure out for one, how long you were sitting down there and two, about how long the gas was out and dispensing fumes through out your house. Did you smell any gas to begin with? You should call your gas company and tell them that you had your gas off for what ever reason maybe the pilot blew out or what ever but, tell them that it was out and try to figure out how long it was out for and they can tell you if you should call the hospital or your Dr. they will tell you what to do after that . I wish I could help you out but unfortunately, I am not a Dr. so please call your gas company and then your Doctor.

When i was 18 weeks pregnant my partner left the gas cooker on by mistake, he woke up to go to the loo, and smelt it so ran downstairs to check it and turn it off then yelled to me to cover up nose and come outside.i got to the top of the stairs and blacked out ,my partner came up to find me and i was half way down the stairs on my bum backwards, holding on to the banisters and not with it. so he picked me up and ran me outside and called an ambulance. luckly baby and me were fine. then when i was 24 weeks preggus he did it again but this time it wasnt left on for so long and we were all fine. At this point we got rid of our gas cooker and brought a electric cooker! anyway after telling you my life story, i would say if your worried go and see ur gp as its better to be safe then sorry.

if you are at all worried go to the docs, however gas mainly causes problems with the lungs and brain, in adults it wont tend to cause much of a problem as you wont be exposed to it for long enough... you'll probably get a headach and maybe pains in your lungs if you did some strenus exercise, however babies are different there may be nothing wrong at all but your most likely to worrie and not sleep until you've seen your doc so, why not go and get yourself and the baby checked out....

Good luck!

Call poison control and ask them about it. If you should be going to the hospital for treatment, they will let you know.
