Euthanasia is "humanly" taking the life of a hopeless human been or animal (hopeless meaning: incurably ill in the last stage, or something like that). For people it's illegal in most countries if not in all, and it's made at the request of the "victim". Anything else is called murder.

It depends on the method used. You can be administered a drug cocktail lay down go to sleep and you are gone.

You can also be starved to death with Morphine being given to reduce the pain.

I would Say the drug cocktail is the more commonly used.
