If this bothers you, please do not prolong that mixed race relationship you are in.

I am the product of a mixed race relationship. Although I have darker skin (though lighter skin than) like my father, my sister's skin tone is the same as my mother's, who is white...so your assumption of skin tone is wrong. I've received comments that I look like my mother, since obviously skin tone isn't a person only physical characteristic..so you're other assumption is wrong too. Never the less, skin tone similarities should not be a preferable trait in anyone's children.

I'm in a mixed race relationship, the dark one, and have no fear of how my children will look like. If they will be lighter thtn me, that does not make them different from me because they will still be mine.
You see children and the love you have for them goes way beyond feelings or fears of what people will think. They are a blessing - never allow anyone to bring in bad feelings

Nowadays, race is less and less of an issue for people. A child, any child, is a gift and a pleasure, and anyone who qualifies another person (child or not) based on skin colour should be set straight immediately in no uncertain terms.

I have a white partner and we have a 2 year old boy. Our boy looks tanned and obviously his mum is white. She loves our son.......because he is our son. Colour has NOTHING to do with it as she carried him, delivered him and he is our lovely little boy. The maternal bond is there even if your child came out green with pink sponks. If you are in a mixed relationship and this worries you, then it would be best to stick with someone in your own race. You can't look at your child and see colour.

I used to be in a mixed race relationship. A year ago I had a black skinned boyfriend. I really like guys with dark skin. I think they're extremely hot.
Anyway, wouldn't have a problem if we had kids with darker skin. They would be my children and I would love them.
I wouldn't care about other people's opinion because it wouldn't be their business.

Why is this question to the "lighter skinned person"?
My son is a mix of black and hispanic and people ask ME "are you the mom?"
And to answer your question, no, it doesn't bother me. My child is a product of his father and I. No mater what he looks like that my "little man". And I wouldn't want him any other way.

It doesn't bother me at all that my children won't be white, and it wont bother my partner that they won't be black either.
Of course they will look like both of you, the shape of the eyes, nose, height, face etc
People will look, particularly at older mothers with a mixed race child because they wonder if it's theirs etc, and people do stare... but only because they're dumb.
and sorry but if you look at black/white adults because they're with a child of a different race that's a dumb thing too because they could be grandchildren, adopted, babysitting/nannying, brother/sister inlaws etc

My Aunt is Hawaiian and has very dark skin, She married a Caucasion male and has two sons and a daughter who is very very light skinned, and sometimes people think she is a babysitter or something, so yes some will mistake, and sometimes your children will look like you but sometimes they won't. But it doesnt really make a difference.

I have a mixed daughter, her father is white, I'm multi-racial, most people think she's mexican... other than the color of her skin she looks like me and her dad. She has the perfect tan, a few shades lighter than me and a few shades darker than her dad... perfection. She's a beauty.
